The Mark Fidrych Foundation Citizenship Award
Mission Statement: The Mark Fidrych Foundation Citizenship Award aims to identify young men and women who have actively participated in and advocated for special needs athletic involvement within their surrounding communities as “Buddies”.
Background: The Citizenship Award was created to recognize those individuals who have dedicated their time towards helping and promoting Special Needs awareness and athletic participation throughout Central Massachusetts. These citizens have helped to create a culture of compassion and caring through their support of all special needs athletes and have acted as advocates during group and one-to-one activity time. The “Buddies”, in partnership and collaboration with the Mark Fidrych foundation, have volunteered their time to make a difference in the lives of those affected by special needs and have worked to establish themselves as outstanding young men and women within their communities.
Criteria: All nominations for Mark Fidrych Foundation Citizenship Award must meet the following criteria:
Recipeints must be between the ages of 10-18 AND must have participated in the Challengers Program or the Mark Fidrych Foundation
Requirements for Nomination Process:
When nominating a “Buddy” for the Mark Fidrych Foundation Citizenship Award you must provide the following information FOR THE NOMINEE:
1) A 500 - 600 word letter of recommendation that justifies the “Buddy’s” nomination. The letter should be a testimony to character, contribution to special needs, and growth as an individual/citizen.
2) The nomination deadline is August 1, 2022.
3) The award will be given to recipients during the annual tournament.
