Scholarship Program
The Mark Fidrych Foundation, Inc is organized for charitable and benevolent purposes, including, but in no way limited to, enhancing the lives of children and adults with disabilities and/or special needs. This is done focusing on sports and sports education and various other means of promoting, maintaining, improving and creating opportunities and benefits aimed at improving the lives of such individuals. With this scholarship program, the foundation hopes to provide tuition assistance to a deserving student who has successfully met the challenges imposed by his or her disability.
This year the Foundation will be awarding two, $1,000 scholarships to be used towards tuition expenses.
To be eligible for the Mark Fidrych Foundation Scholarship; the applicant must be intellectually or physically disabled, a graduating high school senior, a legal resident of Massachusetts and planning to attend an accredited higher educational institute.
In addition to the application, you must submit an essay of approximately 500 to 1,000 words on how you have successfully met the challenges imposed by your disability, and how it has impacted you and your family. If you are unable to complete an essay due to your disability, a peer or “buddie” (someone other than a parent or teacher) could nominate you or you can complete a telephone interview, complete an illustration, or other comparable representation of your journey to success. Please be sure to include any community volunteer efforts you have been involved with.
Due to the number of applications received, only applicants selected to receive a scholarship will be notified with a letter.
